Years of innovating in education

Penn GSE delivers a dynamic Ivy League education set in the real-world learning laboratory of an iconic American city.
Here, you’ll find a platform for fulfilling the promise of education for learners and society.
Penn GSE has long been committed to preparing our students to live, work, and lead in a world marked by sweeping demographic change and interconnectedness.
We continually reflect on our policies and practices to ensure that they foster a welcoming environment for our community of students, faculty, and staff. But there is always much more work to do.
We are building the pipeline of the educators, leaders, counselors, researchers, entrepreneurs, innovators, and policymakers our world needs.
“The support system at Penn GSE has been incredible and truly essential to my academic and personal journey. The faculty are not only experts in the field but also deeply invested in our growth—they create a learning environment where you feel heard, challenged, and supported.”
Philip Singh, current student, School and Mental Health Counseling, M.S.Ed.

“My research highlights the skills and competencies of young people so that we can leverage and learn from them. I want teachers, parents, and school leaders to be able to use that knowledge to create spaces where all young people feel like they belong. That’s why I do the work I do.”
At Penn GSE, our programs and coursework are centered around addressing equal opportunity and access across all areas of education. We are also home to research groups and training centers such as The Alliance for Higher Education and Democracy (Penn AHEAD) and the Resilience Empowerment Collaborative (REC), to name a few. Many students will work directly with community partners to improve academic achievement and life outcomes of Philadelphia children and youth. This framework encourages our students to strive for equal opportunity and access in classrooms, boardrooms, governments, and learning settings where true innovation and real transformation become possible.
